What is your gut response when bad things happen to you?

I was at a business leaders gathering in Atlanta last week and to be honest with you, I was bragging a little bit about our new office expansion and build out. Just about the time I felt sufficiently proud of myself to stop yapping about it, I got a call.  The call was from our Client Care Coordinator who was reporting huge leaks in both our existing office and our new, almost finished, office.

My instinct, sadly, was to throw something.  I wanted to be angry, blame someone and be validated by all for those actions.

I was, however, pleased to see that my team had it under control, had spoken with a roofer and the landlord and all was to be fixed. Walls would be rebuilt, repainted, carpet would be cleaned or replaced and ceilings would be repaired.

Even better was the fact that I was surrounded by successful business owners who, by their mere presence, reminded me that success doesn't come by blame and validation, it comes by way of tenacity, faith, discipline and vision.

I quickly turned my attention back to the big picture work that we were doing to grow our businesses, provide better value to our friends, clients and team members and was inspired to grow personally.

What do you do when bad things happen?

Is that working well for you?

Who do you surround yourself with to help avoid pity parties and negative support?

I'm here to help!

Have a great week,
