There’s a common misconception that no one buys or sells homes during the winter and holidays. I’m not quit sure where this idea got started but I wanted to take a moment and look at the hard numbers to see if that’s really true.

Let’s take a look at the most recent data showing the last three months of each year from October 2009 to October 2011.

October 2009

November 2009

December 2009

December 2010

October 2011

Looking at this table there is a very slight decrease in sales but no more than 1-3% from the summer highs. Between 2009 and 2010, on average, 22.5% of yearly home sales took place in October through December and I’m expecting a strong finish to the 2011 year.

If you’re one of the people searching for homes for sale in Richardson, Plano, Dallas or any other area of the Dallas metroplex you’re definitely not alone. I know that we’ve had a great time the past few months helping some great families get into some amazing deals!
