Are you like me? Do you often find yourself looking forward and missing what is happening right here in front of you today? I must confess that I am guilty of this.
There is a phrase that occasionally pops in my mind and I can't shake it until I re-prioritize my time and focus. The nagging phrase is:
"Don't live a 'wait until' life!"
I've even thought about writing a book about how so many of us are waiting for something to change.
"Wait until I get to college..."
"Wait until I get out of college..."
"Wait until I get married..."
"Wait until we have children..."
"Wait until I get the promotion..."
"Wait until the kids move out..."
"Wait until I retire..."
These comments are usually followed by the expression of a real desire, passion or worthy pursuit.
I'm challenging myself and you not to wait any longer. Someday, we'll have no more time to wait. Someday, we'll wish we had refused to "wait until."
I refuse to wait any longer to invest in deeper relationships with old friends, to take time for myself, to travel with my wife, to truly study ideas I'm interested in and to teach my children about the most important truths in life.
What will you stop "waiting until?"
