Could you feel it this morning?
Could you feel the collective groan of the western world as so many of us returned to life/business as usual? After a few days, or a few weeks for some of us, most folks are starting back to their routines today and many are not thrilled about it.
I'm not all that different in that regard, but I did catch a little perspective this last week that has me more positive than I might have been if I followed the norm today. I watched my Baylor Bears blow a huge lead in The Cotton Bowl while spending some time with friends in Houston. It was brutal.
When the game was over, there was a generally terrible mood among the adults. I was no exception until I noticed that our kids were all still smiling, playing and having a blast. In that moment, I was reminded that I still had a perfect heavenly father who loves me, a wonderful family, a great company with an amazing team, and the excitement of opportunities all around me.
I feel the same way today. Some folks say, "do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life." I think that is a fairly dumb thing to say. I do love what I do and I'm thrilled to lead my team and serve clients every single day. There are, however, days where I'd rather take my wife to breakfast and then go play in the park with my kids all day and not answer my phone even one single time. On those days, sorta like today, it feels like work. It is work.
I don't apologize either.
Today, I'd probably prefer to be all warm and cozy with my family in the house and playing with the kids' new toys and reading a new book I got. I'm reminded though, that these days really are rare and that I am exceedingly blessed and although I would prefer the lazy warm day today, I am super excited to keep our momentum rolling at work from a really great 2014.
Hear me loud and clear, I LOVE WHAT I DO. I'm "off the charts" grateful for all of the trust you put in my team and I to serve your real estate needs and to serve the needs of your friends, family members, and co-workers that you introduce us to. On days like today, join me in finding all the positives in our lives, all the opportunity, and all the joy!
Have an amazing week,
Todd
