I spent the last week "on vacation" with my family. We stayed in town mostly, but had great adventures to the lake, Six Flags, movies, bowling, and quite a few other fun spots. I find it hard to unplug from work and serving our clients, but this was a grand success.
I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't need to travel to a new or exotic place and we didn't need to spend a fortune to create a powerful bonding experience and memories for life. The take-away for me going forward is to get up, get out and do things with the ones I love even if I don't have the time to organize a grand excursion or the flexibility to jaunt across the globe.
There are many surprising destinations right around you, wherever you are, but the most enriching place to be is out in the world with people who matter to you, deepening those relationships.
